Flea Market Apple Core Quilt

Last week I shared with you Bud’s quilt top.  This is the quilt I “loaned” him when he had his heart surgery.  I found the quilt top at a flea market in 1994.  I loved the fabrics!  I think it must be from the 1950’s era.  The pattern is called “apple core.”  The quilt measures 72 in X 93 in.  It was hand pieced.  I paid a fellow quilter to do the hand quilting, then did the binding myself.
Here is Dorothy from the “Wizard of Oz”

Here is the Scarecrow.

This photo just shows some of the interesting fabrics used.
As does this photo.
Here is the label with the details of the quilt’s history.

Would love to do lunch! I'm going to the ocean with my family next week - let's set it up when I get back.

Fabulous quilt, by the way. When I am getting my kids to the car on the way to school, and they are in a bad mood, I make them link arms with me and skip, singing "Were off to see the wizard." It always does the trick.

This is such an unusual quilt - you get so used to seeing them in either square or rectangular shapes, so I just LOVE the fluted edge on this one. It's beautiful. What do you use to mark up your quilts? Is it a permanent ink and can you wash it?

Jabulani, I use washable ink or pencil or chalk. Check out this post, Marking.
