I have a neighbor who is pregnant and due in March 2009. I have seen this quilt pattern, Disappearing Nine Patch, in many places / blogs this year. I wanted to make a baby quilt that would work for either girl or boy and decided I would use it. The quilt is machine pieced and quilted. It is 34.5 in X 46 in. It goes together quickly.
Here is a close photo to show some of the fabrics.

Strange....my mom just showed me her quilt with the same pattern exactly yesterday! Think my sewing machine is coming out of the closet today.
Hope you had a good Christmas!
Emily, you continue to amaze me! Please, share the quilt when you finish.
That quilt has a great antique look about it - till you get up clase and see the fabrics. Beautiful!
Happy holidays!
I've seen this pattern several times lately too but haven't tried it. It made a wonderful baby quilt and the animal fabric is sure to be a big hit. blessings, marlene
Recommendations for how to books for new quilters with basic sewing machine skills?
I have to re-board in March so my mind is going towards non studying projects...
Thanks.

and don't forget the great sources on the web. QuiltGallery.com has links to several.
This is another stunning quilt. Hopefully it will be treasured and become an heirloom! What a privilege it will be to receive it.
Thanks, Jabulani. I alwys hope the baby quilts I make will get used (more than treasured and saved). :)
Oops sorry, I didn't mean to imply that it wouldn't be used and loved. That's what I meant by "treasured". The blanket my grandmother(87) made for my children did both mine and is now the doll's pram blanket. I like to think that when its dolly-duty is done, it will get put away ready for the next generation.
Jabulani, I always worry that when they tell me they will treasure it that the quilt won't get used.
Thanks.
Gorgeous quilts, as ever. I wanted to wish you a happy new year, Ramona. I hope you and yours are blessed with a terrific 2009.
