Log Cabin Quilt in Blue & Green

A friend's niece was hit by a drunk driver earlier this month. Unable to do anything else for the girl, I ask if I could make her a quilt. I was told she likes blue and green. I like the log cabin pattern. It goes together quickly and the blocks can be arranged in various ways to showcase the colors -- straight setting, sunshine and shadow, furrows, and barn raising.
I picked out several blues and greens from my stash and made this scrappy furrows log cabin quilt. It is machine pieced and is 50 in X 63 in. I machine quilted it using the in-the-ditch method.

Here is a close up to show some of the fabrics.

Now I have a plea:
Please, have a safe holiday (Labor Day) weekend AND don't drink and drive.   Thank you.

Perfect use of tones for the effect. I love the addition of the fun, mod-looking prints, too. What a thoughtful gesture. I wish this young lady a very speedy recovery.

I'm a quilter and have made so many friends through quilting. I give all of my quilts away. The recipients are always so amazed that anybody would be so generous. I just always tell them that they wouldn't be so surprised if they knew more quilters! It's a defining characteristic of the breed.

This is a lovely quilt and a beautiful gesture of comfort. Well done!!!

It's hard to tell colors from a picture on my computer but I think you've added either creams or light greens to your green selections. Either way I love the way that lighter color looks in this quilt - it really makes the greens and blues stand out and looks almost like water. Beautiful qult. I'm sure it will be well loved. blessings, marlene

Beautiful, Ramona. I hope she is doing better. That quilt should cheer her. It will be something beautiful to look at and wrap around her as she recovers. You do such beautiful work.

We just had a kid go through a series of trees just outside our door here. Only a facial injury from the airbag, it seemed. Hopefully he went with the paramedics. I'd kept him immobilized until then, and left once they got there. Every year just before school starts back seems we have something here. That and May and June. He was lucky the airbag deployed.

Your quilt is beautiful. The blues and greens flow so well. And I am so impressed that you are a surgeon. I hope you tell your patients that you are a quilter, so they will have confidence in your stitching :-)

Thank you all. I am told that the young woman is back at college. She missed one semester, still limps.
