There is a small dog (12 lbs) who comes to the Athletic Club with her owner. I knit this dog sweater using four different leftover yarns. The pattern is Red Heart Dog Sweater from Yarnspiration.

by LondonLeo (found on Ravelry). The yarn is Cascade Yarns ® 220 Superwash® Sport in colorway smoke blue. After blocking it measures !32 in X 44 in. I'm not sure who it will be gifted to at this time.

Two Small Quilts
This first one was made using a kit I bought from a local fabric/quilt store. I did the blanket stitch by hand around each fused fabric piece the sewed on the buttons/beads and added the binding. It is approx 5 x 7 in in size.
This red bird was done using a pattern I found on the internet (unsure of source now). The pieces were fused in place then machine appliqued. I hand embroidered the small branches with greenery. The birds eye is a small black bead. I hand quilted it before adding the binding. It measures approx 5x7 in in size.

Shiver of Shark Socks
I knit these socks using a kit from Jimmy Beans Wool. The pattern is
Shiver of Sharks Socks
by Laura Cunit. The yarn is
Valkyrie Fibers Matte Sock in colorways Shallow Waters and Open Ocean. I had to reknit the bind off twice as it was too tight using Icelandic bind off suggested in the pattern. I ended up Jenny's magic bind off. I still don't feel super comfortable knitting socks but they turned out pretty well.

Trapunto Fabric Postcard
This fabric postcard is made using a whole cloth quilting with trapunto to give the lizard an added dimensional effect. I machine quilted around the lizard.
I then added yarn (wool/acrylic) for the trapunto.
The yarn was then trimmed prior to adding the pelon stabilizer, triangles for hanging, and binding.

Here is the finished postcard, 5 in X 6.5 in.

Three Small Pieces
These small (5 in square pieces were done prior to last week's featured piece after I heard about the call for 5x5 art pieces. The first two are 5 in square quilts and the third is a 5 in square quilted postcard. This first one was made using a scrap piece of fabric reminiscent of the 60s/70s. I machine quilted pink, green, and yellow pieces then machine quilted it.
This one is machine appliqued and quilted also. It was inspired by swimming near dawn in the open pool at my local athletic club while practicing my back stroke.
This one has the stiff Pelon stabilizer that makes it a postcard. It is inspired by love of Matisse art work. In this case the Blue Nude though mine is done as a pink nude on blue background. It is machine appliqued and quilted.
All of the pieces have small triangle pieces on the back to allow easy hanging if desired.

Lizzie Portrait Quilt
I made this small quilt portrait, 5 in square, in response to a fund raising event the Arkansas Repertory Theatre is doing. In September they posted a request for artist to do pieces of artwork for their upcoming “5x5” art show. Every artist was told to pick up a 5 in square canvas to ensure size conformity. My initial thought was to do a 5 in square quilt or postcard. Then I decided to do this quilted portrait of my dog Lizzie (appliqued top quilted to batting without an actual quilt back or binding) and wrap the canvas. Here it is.
I used mistyfuse to attach the quilt to the canvas (literally ironed it on) then wrapped the fabric and sewed the fabric to itself and the canvas. Friday, September 20, 2019
Three Flowers

Chevron Baby Blanket
This small afghan was knit for a baby whose family lives in Arizona. I tried to pick colors that reminded me of the desert flora I saw on my trip there this spring. They looked great lined up together but I'm not perfectly happy with the finished blanket. I think it might have looked better if I had knit a strip of each color at each end rather than two strips of two colors at opposite ends. It was knit using the pattern "The Walt Painted Chevron Baby Blanket" by Danielle Romanett. The yarn is
Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash in colors
228 Frosted Almond,
859 Lake Chalan Heather,
253 Desert Sun,
253 copper heather, and
1919 Turtle. It measures approx 33 in X 43 in.
