I've finished knitting another lace shawl. As with the other one, it took me months to do. I don't mind. This one was knitted using Harmony 100% wool, color HC03. The pattern is Estonian Garden designed by Evelyn Clark. It is 19 in X 66 in. I hope the photos show it off well enough. I am just learning how to photograph knitted lace.
I finished earlier this month and mailed it to a friend whom I wish I could wrap my arms around. This seems so inadequate but is the best I can do at this time.

I am just so impressed. I've been trying to learn knitting for the last two winters and haven't gone beyond scarves or blankets. Socks mystify me.
Nancy Bush has an Estonian sock pattern in an Interweave Press book of sock patterns that I bought. I did a little reading on her other books and found she has been to Estonia and Latvia and chronicled a lot about their knitting. FYI in case that helps.
Your Four Seasons project inspired me to dig out an applique project I haven't worked on in ages; I am working on the blocks in assembly line style and hope some will roll off the line this year!

The shawl is beautiful but the sentiment is even more beautiful. A friend knitted me a prayer shawl a year or so ago. I wrap it around me every day when I do my Bible study and I cannot tell you the feeling of peace that I feel because this friend cared enough to do this. blessings, marlene

I don't have a blog or even a Flicker page, but am just started on Facebook. I should actually work on scanning some quilt photos to share either there or in email.
After I finish a wedding signature quilt for my niece this year, I'm going to make a Mariner's Compass quilt in batiks. The applique project is a really nice thing to work on in between; it's soothing. I totally swear by a small halogen light, a knockoff of the Ott light that I got at Staples for about $25. It makes ALL the difference in cutting back on eye strain for the tiny stitches.
