Fish Hat

I love looking at finished projects others have done on Ravelry.  That's how I stumbled across the pattern for this hat (Fish Hat by Zoë Mellor).   It lead me on a hunt for the book  (Animal Knits) the patten is published in.  I found the book for $0.01 on Amazon.
Here is my attempt at the hat.  I used various yarns from my stash.  My tension is no where near perfect with the frequent yarn color changes.  I actually took the fish segment out and redid it.  It's better than the first knit-through but still not perfect.
Here is another view.  I sent it to a friend who has a grandson due in the near future.

The Blues Quilt

This quilt is made from the second quilt top Kate sent to me.  I added a border to make it a bit larger.  I'm not sure what the name of this quilt block it.  The quilt is machine pieced and machine quilted.  The finished size is 39 in X 41 in.

Here is a better view of some of the fabrics

I found this lovely fabric (keeping with the blue theme) in my stash and used it for the backing.

Both quilts have been sent to the Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study.

Wisp Scarf #4

This is the fourth scarf I've made using this pattern (Wisp by Cheryl Niamath).  It is a reliable pattern for a consistently lovely scarf.  The yarn is the same yarn used for the Marly scarf (discontinued Reynolds Rosalie).  Here is a photo comparing the knitting before (on the left) and after blocking.  What a difference blocking makes.
Here is another photo after completing the blocking.

And is a is (poor) photo of the entire scarf.  The true color of the scarf is shown in the above photos.  The scarf measures approx 9 in X 63 in.

Scrappy Strippy Quilt

A few months ago I received two quilt tops from Kate.  I recently finished quilting this one.  It is a scrappy strippy quilt.  The quilt top was machine quilted.  I did the machine quilting.  It measures 47 in X 54 in.  When I finish quilting the other top I plan to donate the two quilts to the Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study.
Some lovely fabrics were used.
Here you can see more of the fabrics used.
I found some lovely gold snowflake fabric in my stash to use for the backing.

Marly Scarf

This lovely scarf was made from yarn I found at the estate sale weeks earlier this year.  The pattern is Marly Scarf by Jane Stanley.  The yarn (discontinued) is Reynolds Rosalie (100% wool).  The finished scarf is 10 in X 76 in.  It has a lovely drape.
Here is a close up photo to show the pattern and yarn better.

OMG Dn't Txt n Wlk Quilt

This is my quilt entry for the 2014 Alliance for American Quilts contest.  The theme is “inspired by” with the size specified at 16 in square.  I used the drunkard path quilts to “inspire” me along with the news articles regarding texting while walking (remember the one where the guy walked into a bear?).  Rather than piecing the drunkard’s or in this case texter’s path, I chose to keep it as one piece which I hand appliqued onto the background.  This was done so the background fabric with the bear, fox, and other animals would be intact.
This next one is a detail photo so you can see the background fabric with the bear and fox which represent "hidden" dangers as the walker ventures off the path stepping on the flowers.  The flowers are fussy cut from a flora print and fused in place.  The footsteps are also fused in place.  The quilt is machine quilted.

Here is a photo of the back with the sleeve sewn on, but before I added the label.

Fallberry Fingerless Mitts

I think I will keep this pair of fingerless mitts.  I really like how they turned out and the soft ecru color.  The pattern is Fallberry Mitts by Anne Hanson.  The yarn  Unger Roly-Sport.

This photo shows the texture even better

Yellow Liten Kofta

I knit this baby sweater for my niece who is pregnant with her second child.  I have not heard if they know the baby's sex so I opted for yellow to be safe.  The pattern is Liten kofta by Gralina Frie.  The yarn is  Schachenmayr nomotta Bravo Baby.

This photo not only shows the buttons better, but the truer shade of the yellow.

Child's "I Spy" Crazy Quilt

I made this quilt for a friend's little girl (whom I hear loves it).  It is one made using scraps of fabric from many past projects.  It is machine pieced and quilted.  It measures approx 38 in X 48 in.

The “horse feed” actually came from a cotton feed sack.  You can see Winnie the Pooh here also.

In this section you can find a pink poodle, other dogs, a snow man, poinsettia, sunflower, and robot.

In this one there’s a monkey, owls, zebras, fish, and more.

The back is pieced using two fabrics.

The middle section is full of cowboys, chuck wagons, etc.

Felted Shoulder Bag

This is my first attempt at felting something I knit.  The pattern is The "Don't Worry" Felted Shoulder Bag by Catherine Hughes.  The yarn is a blend of  Bernat Pebblespun (deep teal color) from my estate sale stash and Rowan Kidsilk Haze (black).  I forgot to measure the bag after I finished knitting and before felting it.  After felting it measured about 10 in X 12 in.

To make the strap more stable I pulled a strip of woven strapping through and machine stitched it in place where it attached to the bag.  I made one end "free" with a key

The bag is lined.  The magnetic closure is one I "harvested" from an old purse.

White Snowtracks Cap

This hat was made using white yarn from the estate sale stash I bought earlier this year.  The pattern is Snowtracks Cap by Timothy Peters.  I’m not sure exactly what the yarn is as there was no label.  I think it is wool or a wool blend.
The hat can be worn either unfolded or folded.

Rainbow Quilt Finished!

I finished the afghan size quilt made from the tails of the T-shirts used to make Madi's quilt.  The colors are those of the rainbow, hence the name of the quilt.  The finished quilt measures 52 in X 63 in.  It is machine pieced and quilted.

This photo shows the flowers quilted in each color square.

Here's a bit of the back of the quilt.
