Wisp Scarf #4

This is the fourth scarf I've made using this pattern (Wisp by Cheryl Niamath).  It is a reliable pattern for a consistently lovely scarf.  The yarn is the same yarn used for the Marly scarf (discontinued Reynolds Rosalie).  Here is a photo comparing the knitting before (on the left) and after blocking.  What a difference blocking makes.

And is a is (poor) photo of the entire scarf.  The true color of the scarf is shown in the above photos.  The scarf measures approx 9 in X 63 in.

Mini Mocha Lace Scarf

This lace scarf was knit using the pattern Mini Mochi Easy Lace Scarf by Melanie Lewis.  The yarn is Crystal Palace Yarns Mini Mochi.  It is a simple pattern that produces a lovely scarf.  This scarf measures approx 10 in X 78 in. The first photo shows the color best.

Pear Sorbet Shawl -- WIP

No finished projects to show.  My current knitting project is a shawl using the same yarn as this top.  The yarn is  Classic Elite Yarns Firefly.  I started a scarf using a very simple pattern (Firefly Scarf) as I had received a notice for jury duty and wanted something I could take with me.  I lucked out as I was later notified the cases for my week were all canceled.  The scarf pattern in the yarn looked so blah that I unraveled it and chose a different pattern.  Here's the firefly scarf approximately two thirds done before I unraveled it.  I think the scarf would be lovely in a different yarn. 

This next photo is of the shawl that I am now working.  I like it much better.  The pattern is Pear Sorbet Shawlette by Marly Bird.

Purple Wisp Scarf

Another scarf using the pattern Wisp by Cheryl Niamath.  This one in a lovely purple wool yarn (Araucania Huasco).  The finished blocked scarf measures approx 10 in X 68 in.  This first photo is of the scarf with one end blocked and the other not. 

These next two photos are of the scarf completely blocked.  I am really please with how it turned out.  The drape is wonderful.

Blue Silk Wisp Scarf

I think the wisp scarf pattern (Wisp by Cheryl Niamat) has become a fall back pattern for me.  I've knit it with many different yarns now and it has never let me down.  This one is knit using leftover yarn from a previous scarf.  The yarn is Blue Ridge Yarns Silk Shimmer Lace.  The previous scarf can be seen at this post from two years ago.  The scarf measures approx 10 in X 66 in.  The true color is closer to that in the second photo rather than the first.

200 Yard Scarf and More Hats

This beautiful scarf I made for @k  .  It was made using Artyarns Rhapsody Light  as part of the 200 Yard Scarf Knitalong by Iris Schreier.  The yarn is a silk/mohair blend, so very soft, so nice to the touch.  Finished and blocked, this scarf measures 60 in along the top edge and 9 in at the widest point.

These two hats were made for my neighbors great-grandsons.  They were made using Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Solids, Twists, Heathers.  The pattern is Knit Family Toques by Bernat Design Studio.  I chose to knit the hats in the round rather than seamed as the pattern is written.

Wisp Scarf for Kristen

I made my niece Kristen a pink scarf for Christmas, but she really seemed to like mine.  So I took the left over JoJoLand Harmony wool yarn from mine and knit this scarf for her.  It is approx 10 in X 62 in.  The pattern is Wisp by Cheryl Niamath.

The Lace Ribbon pattern (the pink scarf) is free on Ravelry.

Winter Blues Scarf and Blue Globe Hat

A few weeks ago I bought several skeins of yarn from an estate sale.  I am now trying to find projects to make using the yarn which will only need the amount I have.  All the yarns are now discontinued so I will have a difficult if not impossible time getting more if I'm not careful.  These two projects were made using some of the yarn.

The first one I call the "winter blues" scarf as it was knit during some of the not so nice winter snow and ice that came through.  The yarn is Classic Elite Yarns Fame.  I had about 1.9 skeins.  The pattern is Rainbow Arches Pooling Stole by Gladys We with far fewer stitches so the scarf is narrow.  It measures 7 in X 58 in.

This hat using some blue yarn of unknown fiber.  I think is a cotton blend.   The pattern is Hermione's Globe Hat by Margie Mitchell.

Marly Scarf

This lovely scarf was made from yarn I found at the estate sale weeks earlier this year.  The pattern is Marly Scarf by Jane Stanley.  The yarn (discontinued) is Reynolds Rosalie (100% wool).  The finished scarf is 10 in X 76 in.  It has a lovely drape.

More Hats and a Scarf

In an attempt to finish posting the items I knit either for Christmas or by the end of 2104 I am sharing all these today. This first photo shows a knitted slouch hat (given to a colleague for his wife) and an infinity scarf (given to a friend).  The pattern for the hat is Chunky Slouch Cap by Melissa "Missa" Hills.  The pattern for the scarf is a blend of two patterns:  Super Duper Circle Scarf (aka. Workhorse Cowl) by Leanne Wilkinson and The Rime Frost Cowl by Ida Thue Nielsen.  The yarn is  Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick for both.

These two hats are from leftover yarn.  The pattern is Scrap-happy Celebration Hat by Cosette Cornelius-Bates.  I sent them along with the brown hat in the next photo to our local children’s hospital to use in their Knitting for Noggins program.

The pattern for this hat is Hill Country Hat by Clara Parkes.  The yarn is  Rowan Purelife British Sheep Breeds Chunky.

This next hat is also knit using the hill country pattern but I knit it from the bottom up rather than the top down as the pattern is written.  Also, the color is a deep red rather than the pinkish-red shown in this photo.  The yarn is Plymouth Yarn Galway Worsted.

Variation of Symmetry in Silk Scarf Finished

I finished the scarf using my modification of the pattern  Symmetry in Silk by Eugen Beugler.  The two yarns are Lotus (Trendsetter) Tibetan Cloud (100% yak) and Blue Ridge Yarns Silk Shimmer Lace (100% silk).  I started the scarf using left overs of the two yarns but found I had to order more.  I found an exact color match of the Silk Shimmer  but not the Tibetan Cloud.  My left over Tibetan Cloud was the "bone" color which I couldn't find so settled on the "fawn" thinking I could darken it slightly using tea or coffee.  My attempt at tea/coffee dying didn't work.  You can see the slight difference in my photos (sorry, the photos are the best but the second one is closest to the true color).  The scarf measures approx 66 in X 11 in.

Blue Silk Scarf

I recently finished knitting this scarf.  I used the pattern Three Sisters Scarves # Three by Monika Steinbauer.  The yarn is Blue Ridge Yarns Silk Shimmer Lace yarn (100% silk. Finished and blocked, the scarf measures 10 in X 66 in.  It has a light and airy feel which is lovely.

Nurmilintu Scarf

I love how this scarf turned out.  Just finished it earlier this week.  It was knit using yarn Wisdom Yarns Poems Sock.  The pattern is Nurmilintu by Heidi Alander.  After blocking the scarf measures approx 77 in along the longest edge and 18 in at the widest point.  The two other sides measure 37 in and 49 in.

Thinking of You Scarf

I  love the way this scarf turned out.  Finished in time to share for Valentine's.  The pattern I used is Thinking of You Scarf by Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer.  The  sale of the pattern raises money for WomenHeart, the organization devoted to improving the quality of life and healthcare for women living with heart disease.

The yarn is  Fyberspates Scrumptious DK in cherry red.  It measures 6 in X 60 in.

West Wind Scarf

I actually knit this scarf a few months back but never got around to posting it. Finished it is approx 10 in X 72 in.  It was knit using the pattern West Wind Shawlette Scarf by Miriam Katherine.  The yarn is Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted in colorway #113 Pretty Pink.

Silk-Yak Scarf -- WIP

I started knitting this scarf using left over yarn from other projects.  The two yarns are Lotus (Trendsetter) Tibetan Cloud (the tan color yarn, 100% yak) and Blue Ridge Yarns Silk Shimmer Lace (the blue color, 100% silk).  The pattern is my modification of Symmetry in Silk by Eugen Beugler.  I am pleased with the lovely drape and feel of the scarf. I had to order addition Silk Shimmer Lace yarn.  I hope I don't have to do the same for the Tibetan Cloud.  Here's how it's looking so far.

Purple Bubble Shawl

This is a delicate triangle shawl, knitted from Artyarns Silk Mohair using the pattern Bubble Shawl Kit by Iris Schreier.  The yarn color is a deep purple. One Row Scarf

Just finished this scarf.  It is longer than I intended but it is lovely and can be worn doubled.  The pattern is One Row Lace Scarf by Turvid.  The yarn is Malabrigo Yarn Arroyo in the colorway  Anniversario. Blocked it is approx 10 in X 86 in.  

Teal Scarf

Recently finished knitting this teal scarf.  It was knit using the pattern His (Birthday) Scarf by Monika Steinbaur.  The yarn was leftover from an earlier project.  It's Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine.

Recent Knitting

Here are two recently finished knitting projects. The first is the Shalom Sweater. It is knitted using Louet Euroflax Chunky Weight, the same yarn I used for the Linen Miragamo Bag.

I gave it to my friend @gastromom who loves linen.

This scarf is made using Artyarns Cottonspring and the pattern Dayflower Lace Scarf pattern (free pdf).   I haven’t decided who will receive the scarf.  It was made from an extra skein of yarn from a previous project (see below).

This top was made using the Drops pattern 107-8 top with lace pattern.   Yes, that’s me modeling it.
