WIP--Pleasingly Black Shawl

I have no new finished projects to share this week.  This is my current knitting project which I have been working on for weeks now.  Still have many weeks to go as it is only about half finished. The pattern is Pleasing Reversibility in Lace by Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer.  The yarn is Shibui Knits Silk Cloud which is very soft.  The yarn can be difficult (as least for me) to frog (or unknit) when I make a mistake.  One reason it is so slow going.  It’s going to be lovely when finished.

WIP -- Another Scrappy Quilt

I'm working on another scrappy quilt which will be similar in size to the one I recently finished.  Here are some photos showing some finished areas and some other others being planned.

This first photo shows an area in planning featuring horses, eggs, leaves, Lorax, and dogs.

This area features a car, stars, a parrot head, an owl, dog paw prints, pink ribbon.

As with the last scrappy quilt, this one will have a working pocket.  This area also features hearts, a razorback, thread spools, and more.

This are has motorcycles, elephants, a pirate map, faces, and a flying ant.

Purple Wisp Scarf

Another scarf using the pattern Wisp by Cheryl Niamath.  This one in a lovely purple wool yarn (Araucania Huasco).  The finished blocked scarf measures approx 10 in X 68 in.  This first photo is of the scarf with one end blocked and the other not.
These next two photos are of the scarf completely blocked.  I am really please with how it turned out.  The drape is wonderful.

Fish Hat

I love looking at finished projects others have done on Ravelry.  That's how I stumbled across the pattern for this hat (Fish Hat by ZoĆ« Mellor).   It lead me on a hunt for the book  (Animal Knits) the patten is published in.  I found the book for $0.01 on Amazon.
Here is my attempt at the hat.  I used various yarns from my stash.  My tension is no where near perfect with the frequent yarn color changes.  I actually took the fish segment out and redid it.  It's better than the first knit-through but still not perfect.
Here is another view.  I sent it to a friend who has a grandson due in the near future.

The Blues Quilt

This quilt is made from the second quilt top Kate sent to me.  I added a border to make it a bit larger.  I'm not sure what the name of this quilt block it.  The quilt is machine pieced and machine quilted.  The finished size is 39 in X 41 in.

Here is a better view of some of the fabrics

I found this lovely fabric (keeping with the blue theme) in my stash and used it for the backing.

Both quilts have been sent to the Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study.

Wisp Scarf #4

This is the fourth scarf I've made using this pattern (Wisp by Cheryl Niamath).  It is a reliable pattern for a consistently lovely scarf.  The yarn is the same yarn used for the Marly scarf (discontinued Reynolds Rosalie).  Here is a photo comparing the knitting before (on the left) and after blocking.  What a difference blocking makes.
Here is another photo after completing the blocking.

And is a is (poor) photo of the entire scarf.  The true color of the scarf is shown in the above photos.  The scarf measures approx 9 in X 63 in.

Scrappy Strippy Quilt

A few months ago I received two quilt tops from Kate.  I recently finished quilting this one.  It is a scrappy strippy quilt.  The quilt top was machine quilted.  I did the machine quilting.  It measures 47 in X 54 in.  When I finish quilting the other top I plan to donate the two quilts to the Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study.
Some lovely fabrics were used.
Here you can see more of the fabrics used.
I found some lovely gold snowflake fabric in my stash to use for the backing.

This lovely scarf was made from yarn I found at the estate sale weeks earlier this year.  The pattern is Marly Scarf by Jane Stanley.  The yarn (discontinued) is Reynolds Rosalie (100% wool).  The finished scarf is 10 in X 76 in.  It has a lovely drape.
Here is a close up photo to show the pattern and yarn better.

OMG Dn't Txt n Wlk Quilt

This is my quilt entry for the 2014 Alliance for American Quilts contest.  The theme is “inspired by” with the size specified at 16 in square.  I used the drunkard path quilts to “inspire” me along with the news articles regarding texting while walking (remember the one where the guy walked into a bear?).  Rather than piecing the drunkard’s or in this case texter’s path, I chose to keep it as one piece which I hand appliqued onto the background.  This was done so the background fabric with the bear, fox, and other animals would be intact.
This next one is a detail photo so you can see the background fabric with the bear and fox which represent "hidden" dangers as the walker ventures off the path stepping on the flowers.  The flowers are fussy cut from a flora print and fused in place.  The footsteps are also fused in place.  The quilt is machine quilted.

Here is a photo of the back with the sleeve sewn on, but before I added the label.

Fallberry Fingerless Mitts

I think I will keep this pair of fingerless mitts.  I really like how they turned out and the soft ecru color.  The pattern is Fallberry Mitts by Anne Hanson.  The yarn  Unger Roly-Sport.

This photo shows the texture even better
