Two Chevron Afghans

I've knit two chevron afghans in the past couple years.  Apparently I failed to post about the first one which I finished back in 2021.  The pattern is Spicy Chevron Blanket by Patons.  It was made for a nephew, his wife, and daughter (suspect she claimed it).  The finished size is 48 in x 62 in.  The yarn is Cascade 220 in these colors i-- dark blue #8393, dark teal #4009, teal #8891, yellow #4147, light blue #8905, and white #8505.

This second one was finished in June this year.  It was made for a niece and her family.  The pattern is The Walt Painted Chevron Baby Blanket by Danielle Romanetti.  The yarn is Cascade 220 in toasted coconut #166, cream, and carmine rose #106, and deep teal #103.  Finished size is approx 50 x 60 in.

Afghan for Madi

I knit this afghan for my niece Madi.  I started it back in March and finished it this past weekend.  It measures 60 in X 78 in.  It was knit using Sinead Throw by Berroco Design Team with a modification on the border.  The yarn used was Cascade 220 Superwash in colorway 866 Forest Heather.  To get a border as I knit the afghan rather than  adding afterwards I cast on 300 stitches -- 9 (side border) x2 plus 282 (center pattern).  Knit 11 rows garter at beginning and end.  Side border (9 stitches each side):  (K1 tbl, k1) x4, K1 tbl on right side; (P1 tbl, K1) x4,  P1 tbl on wrong side. Body of afghan knit per the pattern specifications.

These next two photos are during blocking (unfortunately blocked with backside upwards so cables don't show).

Afghan for Zach

I needed a big project to work on this winter so I text my nephew and ask if he needed an afghan as a house warming gift.  He purchased his first home in the fall of 2020. He said sure and approved the color and pattern.  It was a good project to work on especially during the ice/ snow storm in February.  The pattern is Charette by Julie Turjoman.  The yarn is Valley Yarns Haydenville Bulky in light gray. It took me approx 2 months to knit working on it in the evenings while I watched TV.  The finished size is approx 55 in X 74 in.  My nephew is well over 6 ft tall.

Chevron Baby Blanket

This small afghan was knit for a baby whose family lives in Arizona.  I tried to pick colors that reminded me of the desert flora I saw on my trip there this spring.  They looked great lined up together but I'm not perfectly happy with the finished blanket.  I think it might have looked better if I had knit a strip of each color at each end rather than two strips of two colors at opposite ends.  It was knit using the pattern "The Walt Painted Chevron Baby Blanket" by Danielle Romanett.  The yarn is
Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash in colors  228 Frosted Almond,  859 Lake Chalan Heather, 253 Desert Sun, 253 copper heather, and 1919 Turtle.  It measures approx 33 in X 43 in.

Western Hills Blanket

My sister recently brought me a carry-on size suitcase full of yarn from Arizona she had found at the Goodwill store (as if I need any more).  I decided to use some of it to knit an afghan.  The pattern I'm using is Western Hills - The Blanket by Julia Stanfield.  The yarn is a discontinued 4-ply Wool-Ease from Lion Brand in four colors -- black, grey heather, blue heather, and white.  I'm using a size 6 needle.
