Here is the fourth memory quilt made
from the shirts. This one is 50 in X 70 in, machine pieced and quilted.
Here is a detail view. You can see the razorback patch that I was given to add. He was a big fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks.
You can see the first three quilts
here,
here, and
here. This one also has the Route 66 fabric for the backing.
Dr. Bates, My goodness, how do you do these so fast? It seems like I was just looking at your number 3 quilt. They are all so beautiful. You must not ever get tired of working using your hands.
ReplyDeleteI am taking your advise and getting ready to soon start making small quilts for my memory bears. I thought I would cut out 1 inch hexagon shapes and do it in that pattern, as the hexagons seem like an easy pattern for me to follow.
Oh, I hope I can do it!!!
Sure you can, Cathy! They will be easier to press if you stop at the intersection of the seams.
ReplyDeletehello.... I saw you over on spirit cloth.... and I just had to tell you that I absolutely love your quilts. So far have in my quiklt making journey I have not gone beyond using squares and triangles to make quilts. I collect cool shirts to eventually make into quilts, but so far haven't cut them up...The memories sewn up in your quilts , the colors, the textures.... just amazing...
ReplyDeletealso enjoyed your snake information.. heard that recently a MAMUSHI had bit someone in our neighborhood... we get them in our yard...
Wow, your snakes are much scarier than the ones I usually see. Thanks for your nice comments.
