My sewing room is barely in a usable state at this time as I have packed much of it up in anticipation of redoing the floor, getting new paint, and perhaps new storage. All that is too happen after we finish the remodel of the guest bathroom. So my handwork production may be more knitting than sewing over the next several months. I put the afghan aside to work on this shawl. The pattern is Stitch Sampler Shawl
by On This Day Designs. The yarn is Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio DK, the shade is Lauraville.
.I am a plastic surgeon in Little Rock, AR. I used to "suture for a living", I continue "to live to sew". These days most of my sewing is piecing quilts. I love the patterns and interplay of the fabric color. I would like to explore writing about medical/surgical topics as well as sewing/quilting topics. I will do my best to make sure both are represented accurately as I share with both colleagues and the general public.

Western Hills Blanket
My sister recently brought me a carry-on size suitcase full of yarn from Arizona she had found at the Goodwill store (as if I need any more). I decided to use some of it to knit an afghan. The pattern I'm using is
Western Hills - The Blanket
by Julia Stanfield. The yarn is a discontinued 4-ply Wool-Ease from Lion Brand in four colors -- black, grey heather, blue heather, and white. I'm using a size 6 needle.
