I knit this shawl using the pattern A Beginner's Triangle
by Amy Detjen. The yarn is Cascade Yarns Kid Seta Noir. I didn’t want it to be a triangle but love the pattern of the lace. When
the width got to be approx 18 in I stopped the increases. Blocked the shawl is approx 80 in long by 22 in wide.
I am a plastic surgeon in Little Rock, AR. I used to "suture for a living", I continue "to live to sew". These days most of my sewing is piecing quilts. I love the patterns and interplay of the fabric color. I would like to explore writing about medical/surgical topics as well as sewing/quilting topics. I will do my best to make sure both are represented accurately as I share with both colleagues and the general public.

Mini Mocha Lace Scarf
This lace scarf was knit using the pattern Mini Mochi Easy Lace Scarf
by Melanie Lewis. The yarn is Crystal Palace Yarns Mini Mochi. It is a simple pattern that produces a lovely scarf. This scarf measures approx 10 in X 78 in. The first photo shows the color best.

Colors, Dark to Light, Quilt
This small quilt, approx 34.5 in x 38.5 in, was made using 5 in squares from a fabric sample pack. Same color squares were sew together with 0.5 in white strips (1 in with seam allowance). The rows were sew together with 1 in white strips (1.5 in with seam allowance). I added white fabric along the end of each row as need, moving the colors over by a half inch. Then strips of white where added on the top and bottom. The quilt is machine pieced and quilted.
This photo show some of the quilting. Friday, April 1, 2016
Red Lace Shawl -- WIP
This shawl is a work in progress (WIP). It is being knitted using Cascade Yarns Kid Seta Noir. The pattern is A Beginner's Triangle
by Amy Detjen. I didn’t want it to be a triangle but love the pattern of the lace so when
the width got to be approx 18 in I stopped the increases. I am now continuing to knit the shawl at as if a rectangular shawl. When it gets as long I want it to be minus the length of the "increasing width" length at the start I will begin to decrease as the pattern is written.
