Treats for Dogs Quilt

This small quilt, 16 in X 16 in, is made using dog treat bags for the quilt top.  The quilt back is part of a dog food bag.  The batting is Hobbs Heirloom.  I used cotton fabric for the binding.  It is machine pieced and quilted.  It has been entered into the Quilt Alliance 2015 contest.  This year’s theme is Animals We Love.

More Hats and a Scarf

In an attempt to finish posting the items I knit either for Christmas or by the end of 2104 I am sharing all these today. This first photo shows a knitted slouch hat (given to a colleague for his wife) and an infinity scarf (given to a friend).  The pattern for the hat is Chunky Slouch Cap by Melissa "Missa" Hills.  The pattern for the scarf is a blend of two patterns:  Super Duper Circle Scarf (aka. Workhorse Cowl) by Leanne Wilkinson and The Rime Frost Cowl by Ida Thue Nielsen.  The yarn is  Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick for both.
These two hats are from leftover yarn.  The pattern is Scrap-happy Celebration Hat by Cosette Cornelius-Bates.  I sent them along with the brown hat in the next photo to our local children’s hospital to use in their Knitting for Noggins program.

The pattern for this hat is Hill Country Hat by Clara Parkes.  The yarn is  Rowan Purelife British Sheep Breeds Chunky.

This next hat is also knit using the hill country pattern but I knit it from the bottom up rather than the top down as the pattern is written.  Also, the color is a deep red rather than the pinkish-red shown in this photo.  The yarn is Plymouth Yarn Galway Worsted.

More Mobius Scarves

Here are more Mobius scarves I knit and gave as gifts Christmas 2014.  Just now getting around to posting.  The pattern is Long Mobius Cowl by Haley Waxberg.   I actually knit two from the red yarn which is James C. Brett Marble Chunky (one went to my sister Susan, the other to my step-mother in law).  The multicolor yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted Multi.  It went to my mother in law.

This last one was given to my young friend Allison who mentioned to my sister Cathy that she really liked the scarves I had been posting on Facebook.  I decided to gift her with one.  The yarn is Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick.

Four Knitted Hats

This first hat was knit using the same pattern as Zach's hat and with the same yarns.  This one went to my nephew Justin.  The pattern used is David's Hat by Kenny Chua.  The yarn is Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine in two colors (black, gold).  I used the gold yarn as the main color and chose to do simple strips.

The next three are baby hats given to friends/family.  This first one uses the pattern Simple newborn hat with a touch of lace by Ginny Sheller.  The yarn is Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino.
This next one uses leftover yarns from various projects over the past few years.  It’s just a basic baby hat with a pompom added.

This last hat also made using leftover Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn.  The pattern is Split-Brim Toddler Hat by Stranded Knitter.

Small Flower Basket Quilt

The 2015 National Quilt Association Quilt Show will be held in Little Rock, Arkansas (my hometown).  This is the quilt I made and submitted hoping it will be accepted for the show.  It used mixed techniques -- piecing, applique, beading, three dimensional flowers.  It is machine quilted.  The quilt measures 23.5 in X 25.5 in.
This photo shows the flowers and quilting in a bit more detail.
This quilt does the same.
This photo shows quilting from the back.
