I recently finished this quilt -- child or lap size at 42.5 in X 55.5 in. It features the houndstooth block. The quilt is machine pieced and quilted. It is headed to a friend who lives in Florida.
I am a plastic surgeon in Little Rock, AR. I used to "suture for a living", I continue "to live to sew". These days most of my sewing is piecing quilts. I love the patterns and interplay of the fabric color. I would like to explore writing about medical/surgical topics as well as sewing/quilting topics. I will do my best to make sure both are represented accurately as I share with both colleagues and the general public.

Pear Sorbet Shawl -- WIP
No finished projects to show. My current knitting project is a shawl using the same yarn as this top. The yarn is Classic Elite Yarns Firefly. I started a scarf using a very simple pattern (Firefly Scarf) as I had received a notice for jury duty and wanted something I could take with me. I lucked out as I was later notified the cases for my week were all canceled. The scarf pattern in the yarn looked so blah that I unraveled it and chose a different pattern. Here's the firefly scarf approximately two thirds done before I unraveled it. I think the scarf would be lovely in a different yarn.
This next photo is of the shawl that I am now working. I like it much better. The pattern is Pear Sorbet Shawlette

Blue Houndstooth Child Quilt -- WIP
This work in progress (WIP) is a blue version of the houndstooth quilt I recently did in multiple colors. A friend asked me to make one in blue. It is pieced and I am currently working on the quilting.

Knitted Beach Bag
I knit this beach bag using Jute macrame rope, 3-ply, from Hobby Lobby. Next time I think I will try 2-ply which should be less stiff and easier to use. Still it turned out rather well. The pattern is Sea Breeze Bag. The first photo is taken with my running shoes in the bag to an effort to "stretch" the bag out.
This photo was taken shortly after finishing the bag.Friday, July 3, 2015
Sour Apple Green Tank
This lovely green tank was knit using the pattern Summer Breeze Tank by Pattons Design Team. The yarn is Classic Elite Yarns Firefly. Here's the front.
Here's the back:
And here's a closer view to show the lace detail.
