Medallion Quilt

I made this medallion quilt for someone I know who has metastatic lung cancer.  The quilt is machine pieced and quilted.  It measures 47 in X 64 in.

The inner square was a pre-marked piece.  The fabric adjacent to it is a brown batik.

The next round was a strip of green fabric with yellow squares at the corners.  Then I added strips of fabric given to me by a friend who spent many years as a missionary..  I think this fabric was from Australia or New Zealand as it has kangaroos, lizards, etc and in the original fabric had surrounded a scene of Aborigines people (I think).  An additional strip of the brown batik was added.

The back is this lovely purple, blue, and brown fabric which was given to me by the same friend.

Madison's Irish Chain Quilt

I pieced the quilt top for this quilt using dresses saved by my niece's mom/my kid sister from when my niece was a baby/toddler.  I decided the Irish chain pattern would allow the fabrics to be shown off.  The quilt is machine pieced by me and hand quilted by my sister.  The quilt measures 94.5 in square.

This photo shows the fabrics a little clearer.

And this one just a bit of the nice quilting my sister (Madison’s mother) did.

The quilt label was made using a piece of the collar from one of the dresses.

Seascape Stole in Green

I started this project so that I'd have something to work on during the plane trip to Arizona for my sister's wedding last month.  In truth, I did very little knitting while gone from home.  I am settling back into work on it.  It's a lovely project which will take a while.  The pattern is Seascape Stole by Kieran Foley.  The yarn is  Misty Mountain Farm Alpaca Lace.

Two Quilts, One Finished, One in Progress

I finished binding the blooming 9-patch for my sister's wedding gift a few days prior to leaving to attend the wedding (the wedding was on Pi day, 3-14-15).  I failed to get a great photo of the finished quilt.  It was stuffed into my luggage so I could take it with me.  Here are two photos sent by the quilter that show the lovely quilting she did for me.

This is the quilt top I am currently quilting.  It is approx 49 in X 66 in.  It is a simple medallion quilt.  I have plans to give this one to a friend who has metastatic lung cancer.
